Cutie’s Trading Diary Ep.1-When Rationality and Emotion are in Conflict
Personal events led me to understand a thing about myself. Sometimes, my rational mind and subconscious emotion have opposing opinions. After a brutal breakup, rationality told me that I should leave it alone and move on no matter what, every logical thinking took me to this clear-cut conclusion; however, uncontrollable emotions hijacked me, making me feel extremely helpless in missing our life together. Every cell in my body was screaming I want him back. I was pulled by two opposing forces, leaving me in a misaligned, confused state. With the help of self-reflection and therapy, gradually, my emotions and rational mind started to come closer, until they aligned — this breakup served as a catalyst to awaken and transform myself.
Psychological science proved that people make decisions out of emotion, not rationality. Every kind of decision, not only in the sentimental spheres in which emotions’ impact is much more pronounced, but also in seemingly very logical choices such as which car to buy, which asset to invest, when to buy, and when to sell. The slang terms in investment all come with an emotional twist: FOMO(Fear-Of-Missing-Out), FUD(Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt), Panic Sell, for example.
