Be human, Join Blast

Blast has maximized human emotional vulnerability to its peak! A 3/5 multi-sig smart contract managed by unknown persons has attracted $570M in a week. Hints, imagination, and dreamy expectations are what we need to put money in selflessly.

A quick sum-up of wtf is Blast

Blast, a star project backed by Paradigm, will be an Ethereum Layer 2 that generates yields for ETH and stablecoins, something that is currently missing in the L2 ecosystem — they claimed (which is not 100% true). The ETH yield comes from Lido staking stETH, and the stablecoin yield from Marker DAO’s T-Bill yields. So far, you might think those who put money in must lose their cognitive ability. Why don’t you just use Lido and MarkerDAO directly?

Here is the twist. Blast has designed a cool gaming scheme that gives out Points when joining the game. Points are very important for the future Airdrop. Who isn’t excited when hear Airdrop? Blast employs a multi-level Ponzi Scheme that pushes social referrals, adding a cherry on top. The “backed by Paradigm” is the only trust we need.

One behavioural pattern (pathology) I see in crypto is people chase uncertainty. The ambivalence excites us the most! Hunting for Airdrop is solid proof of crypto people’s wired for imagined (expected) asymmetric gains. We love living with expectations. The prospect of waiting for an Airdrop is like being in a relationship with a non-committal man. He drops hints here and there but never a full commitment. And yet, we’re hooked, waiting for that “will you marry me” moment. Ultimately, it may be, “I’m sorry, but I can’t”. Zksync seems the toxic man.

Airdrop hunting is less about (mis)believing promise and more about imagination. These variables ALWAYS exist:

  • Will there be an Airdrop?
  • What are the criteria to get qualified?
  • How much will the Airdrop token be worth?

The good thing about Blast is it clearly states there will be Airdrop. The rest is for participants to get more bridged assets, invitees, and points possible.

Recently, I learnt a non-medical term, “intracranial orgasm”, implying the brain would produce an orgasm experience in the absence of sexual arousal. This phenomenon described the psyche of airdrop hunters pretty well, in my humble opinion. That’s the thrill — a cerebral high from chasing what could be, rather than what is.

Looking introspectively and around, I summarized these major drivers of why people join Blast:

the thrill of a big Airdrop,

the dream of astronomical returns,

the trust in “backed by Paradigm”.

In the meanwhile, your funds are blocked till at least February 2024. There is no guarantee that you will get your deposit back or you will get any airdrop.

But never mind, we love trusting strangers and the unknown. The unpredictability only adds exhilaration. The red flags are less red in the face of a potentially lucrative return.

As hard as my rational mind pulled me to the cautious side, I joined the party. It doesn’t hurt to put in some risky money.

Let’s be Ponzi.

But DYOR. I strongly recommend only putting in the money you can afford to lose. Then the rest is Adrenaline.
